Our Commitment
A Culture of Vigilance and Care
The safety and wellbeing of every student is Brighton International Academy’s highest priority. The Academy is committed to providing a caring, friendly and secure environment in which children can learn and flourish, and it maintains a culture of vigilance in which safeguarding is understood to be the shared responsibility of every adult in the school community.
Safeguarding arrangements are aligned with the Student Protection and Care Policy and related regulations of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, and are reviewed regularly.
In Practice
How We Keep Children Safe
Trained staff
All staff receive appropriate training, guidance and support to recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns effectively.
Safer recruitment
Recruitment includes interviews, verification of qualifications and references, and background checks appropriate to work with children.
Secure campus
Supervised entry points, security staff in each building and floor monitors support a safe and orderly school day.
Clear reporting
Concerns are recorded and escalated promptly to the designated safeguarding lead, and acted upon in the child’s best interests.
Online safety
Students are taught to use technology safely and respectfully, and school devices and networks are used under supervision.
Wellbeing support
The school social worker and nurse work with families to support any child who is experiencing difficulty.

Raising a Concern
The Academy promotes a climate in which children and adults feel confident to share concerns. If you are worried about the safety or wellbeing of a child, please speak without delay to the School Principal, who can be reached on the emergency and enquiries line listed in our contact directory. All concerns are treated seriously and handled with appropriate confidentiality.
