Our Commitment
Educating Responsible Stewards of the Environment
Care for the environment is an expression of the values at the heart of Brighton International Academy’s mission, and a responsibility that our students will carry into adult life. The Academy seeks to develop young people who understand the importance of sustainability and who act on that understanding in school, at home and in the wider community.
This commitment is consistent with the environmental development pillar of Qatar National Vision 2030 and is pursued through learning, student action and partnership with families.
Taking Action
Sustainability in Practice
Our approach combines classroom learning with practical habits that students can adopt every day.
Reducing waste
Encouraging recycling, the reduction of single-use materials and the responsible use of classroom resources.
Reusable essentials
Promoting reusable water bottles and lunch containers to reduce everyday waste.
Responsible consumption
Raising awareness of food waste and of mindful, responsible consumption.
Conserving resources
Building habits that conserve energy and water across the school day.
Learning across the curriculum
Exploring environmental themes through Science, Social Studies and Islamic Education, which teaches stewardship of the earth.
Awareness events
Marking occasions such as Qatar Sustainability Week and Earth Day through assemblies and student-led activities.
Working Together
A Whole-Community Effort
Lasting change depends on shared commitment. Students, staff and parents are invited to reinforce sustainable habits at school and at home, so that the lessons learned in the classroom become part of each family’s daily life.
